The Oconee opened in 2002 primarily for use by the adjacent Ritz Carlton lakefront hotel and spa.
Designed by Rees Jones the Oconee course is a visual feast for every golfer! Par is 72 and plays 7029 yards from the tips. Slope and rating Are 137/73.5. Greens are Champion Bermuda.
The variety and uniqueness of the holes offers dramatic views Appeals to all. The two finishing holes bring the lake into play prior to ending back at the Ritz.
Located in Reynolds Plantation, the Oconee course offers a full service restaurant and pro shop on site. Members of Reynolds Lake Oconee have access to six golf courses based upon which membership level they choose.
Amenities in three separate gated golf communities include several restaurants, tennis facilities, and four marinas with dry storage. The Lake Club is a state of the art facility which includes a lakefront indoor exercise area, indoor pool, and three outdoor pools on site and is accessible by car or boat.
Planned activities are offered throughout the year from nature walks, wine tastings, and concerts plus a multitude of other offerings for members. Property owners are from all fifty states and international countries. Reynolds members are an eclectic group of various professional backgrounds.
In summary, the golf courses and the amenities are world class in every respect.
Tim’s Take: Sneaky long with the visual yardages deceptive. Typical of other local courses of this caliber where the second shot is critical! An open tract which requires strategy with every shot!
Evaluation: A players’ course which will challenge middle to high handicaps.
